World Children’s Day 2020: 5 Good habits all parents should teach their children
Parents are inspirational figures in the eyes of their kids. As children grow, they tend to follow the behaviour, actions and habits of their parents. Thus, it is extremely important for parents to teach their children the importance of good habits at an early age so that they follow the right path for the rest of their lives.
On this World Children’s Day 2020, let us look at some of the healthy habits that all parents should teach their children:
1. Staying hygienic
Even though we are living in the COVID-19 era, staying hygienic is always important to keep ourselves and everyone around us safe. Therefore, teach your child basic hygiene rules such as washing hands before and after meals, or whenever they come back home after playing outside. Medical experts from the pharma industry in India assert that following a simple hygiene schedule can save children from a number of common diseases such as cold and flu.
2. Eating healthy
While all kids love fast foods, you should ensure that your child develops healthy eating habits. You can serve them homemade versions of their favourite foods like pasta, noodles, etc. by adding colourful vegetables. Explain to them how eating nutritious foods will help them develop a healthy body. In addition, you should also set a good example for your child by eating a regular and balanced diet.
3. Physical activity
Encourage your child to indulge in physical activities like cycling, swimming, running, outdoor sports, etc. It could be any activity he/she enjoys. You can even plan a family picnic once in a while to make physical activity fun and exciting for your child.
4. Staying hydrated
As a parent, it is essential that you educate your child about the importance of drinking water at a very young age. Tell them that staying hydrated will not only keep them physically fit but also save them from a number of diseases. However, it is equally important to ensure that your child does not develop a regular habit of consuming soft drinks.
5. Good oral hygiene
Children should be taught good oral hygiene from their early childhood. Brushing two times a day, flossing the teeth, gargling after every meal, cleaning the tongue with the help of a tongue cleaner, etc. are some of the basic oral hygiene habits you should teach your child. Learning good habits at a young age can help your child lead a long and healthy life. Therefore, you should always show them the right direction and be a good role model so that they are able to inculcate healthy habits in their day-to-day lives.
